Abstract
Designing a product in which light and matter are the protagonists.
"Light (and) Shade" was created as a light-shielding, inspired by kirigami techniques, interchangeable to the different gradients of opacity. The purpose is to innovate light sources already present in the domestic environment. The material that has been chosen, polypropylene, emphasizes the potential of the light due to transparency and opacity features. The products are assembly by the users to stimulate her/his creativity. The selection is composed by Tairu, Dansa, Himawari e Beru prepared as a "DIY kit", available in five different colors and gradient of opacity fitted to different contexts. Japanese and kirigami culture are transposed in different shapes and patterns for each model, creating particular lighting effects.

Dansa ("dancer" in Japanese) is composed of 4 different sheets to increase opacity.
Tairu ("tile" in Japanese) consists of a single sheet and it presents concentric cuts.
Beru ("bell" in Japanese) is inspired by Japanese rice paper lanterns used for the traditional holidays.
The shape of Himawari ("sunflower" in Japanese) is inspired by a bud, which wraps around the light bulb. It is a wall model that exploits the total opacity of the material, projecting light games.
COMMUNICATION
The patterns are the transposition of the cuts and incisions made on the models
